アラン・リチャード・プレッド（Allan Richard Pred、1936年 - 2007年）は、国際的に知られたアメリカ合衆国の地理学者、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校教授。主に時間地理学の研究を行った。20冊以上の書籍やモノグラフを著し、それが7言語に翻訳され、また70点以上の雑誌論文・論文集所収論文を発表した。
来歴
プレッドは、1936年にニューヨーク市ブロンクス区に生まれた。1953年に16歳でアンティオーク大学 (Antioch College) に入学し、1957年に首席で卒業した。1962年にシカゴ大学からPh.D.を取得し、その後バークレーの助教授となり、1971年に34歳で教授となった。1979年から1988年まで、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校地理学部門の代表者を務め、2005年には、バークレーにおける最上位の職位である大学院教授となった。
プレッドは、妻ヒョルディス (Hjördis) と1962年にサンフランシスコで出会った。夫妻はバークレーとスウェーデンの間で、毎年のように転居を続け、子どもたちをバイリンガルに育てた。
